"People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us".

Flowers make perfect photographic subjects for a variety of reasons: they are colorful and ever changing, they come in many different varieties and are static (on a calm day). Best of all, they absolutely love to pose for the camera!
Flower subjects are infinite, from wild daisies scattered in a field, to your florist's finest roses, from spring's early crocuses and daffodils, to the elegance of calla lilies and orchids. There is massive scope to use one's imagination in creating exciting, different images.
- Do you love the beauty of flowers and wish to capture that beauty in your photographs?
- Are your flower photos less than spectacular?
- Would you like to learn to create unique flower images?
We will show you how! You'll learn the rules of composing stunning flower photos, how to isolate and simplify your flower compositions, how to use natural light to your advantage, as well as how to work around less than desirable lighting situations. Your artistic and technical skills will soar to new heights as you learn to look creatively at flowers in new and exciting ways. You'll learn which of your equipment is best for flower photography, and we'll even teach you how to inexpensively make some of your gear! You will learn easy techniques to turn simple floral subjects into impressive works of art. We will teach you how to work a subject, which lines and shapes to look for, and even share tips you can use when processing your work on the computer.
Too much rain? Snowed in? Not a problem! We'll teach you how to shoot flowers indoors too! We'll discuss how to photograph flowers indoors when the weather doesn't cooperate for outdoor shooting. Kathleen lives in Maine, and still shoots new flowers every week. Ron lives in Washington State, an area known for lots of rain, so he often shoots indoors as well.
