Shoot Like A Professional Sports Photographer
Starting date:

Instructor: Pete Saloutos                                                                                Duration: 8 Weeks            Cost: USD395

Energize your sports imagery now! If you're committed to improving the caliber of your photos and are looking for a course that is strictly sports, this is it. If you want knowledge and techniques used by the best professionals, as well as constant personalized input from a working pro who is addicted to sports and loves to teach, you'll find it here. Moms, dads, aspiring amateurs, motivated professionals: each student is critiqued at his/her incoming level and motivated to move forward. The outcome for you? Shooting better sports images than ever before!

Pete Saloutos, a designated Nikon "Legend of the Lens," brings forty years of experience and a distinguished professional career to your individualized online classroom experience. Whether you are shooting for fun or for profit, you'll find his insightful individual evaluations and constant stream of realtime images and commentary combine into a completely unique explosion of ideas and feedback. No matter where you are in expertise when you begin the course, you will redefine your shooting so that your images begin to shine and stand out from the pack.

During eight weeks, you'll cover the following topics and more: adult and youth single and team sports, indoor and outdoor shooting and lighting, composition, motion, and sports portraiture. By the end of the course, you'll create your own version of an "ultimate sports shot" to be proud of.

Each student will opt to have images evaluated from a growing professional proficiency with fun point of view or with a more serious eye toward sales (of either microstock OR rights managed, assignment and editorial images). Either way, you'll be amazed at how Pete propels you forward in pursuit of your best possible sporting images.

Course Requirement:
A thorough knowledge of aperture, shutter speed and exposure.

Instructor: Pete Saloutos

Pete SaloutosPete Saloutos is a veteran of corporate, advertising and stock photography. His career in commercial photography spans over 35 years and includes images that appear in materials published by Fortune 500 companies, businesses and magazines all over the world. Eclectic and wide-ranging, his work includes such diverse subjects as sports, medicine, landscapes, architecture and underwater photography: his targets are always moving.

"I am fortunate that the breadth of experience I've had in equipment and techniques gives me the flexibility to pursue my changing interests in photography. From the abstract to the concrete, I am driven to create compelling images using whatever means meets the challenge: film or digital, available or complex lighting, indoors or outdoors: I enjoy it all…and find great energy and excitement in knowing that my best images lie ahead."

In addition to a 2004 Gold Medal for the Portfolio.com Best Advertising Image in Show, other distinctions of note include his selection as one of Nikon’s "Legends Behind the Lens," the selection of his rhythmic gymnastics image as a 2004 Olympics international stamp, and a Gold Medal Award in Best Design from the Advancement and Support of Education (UCLA H2004 Calendar).

His current project is a work of love: spearheading The Lisa Lund Fund, dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients and research through funds raised from a 2008 calendar that will be published this fall. Another project that is close to the heart is the just-completed Arms Around Bainbridge 29 mile relay around Bainbridge Island. Most recent in print are his images of China, centerpieced in the June/July issue of PC Photo Magazine. A sampling of Saloutos clients includes Mentorcorp, USA Today, Bank of America, IBM, Nike, Runner’s World, Pacific Bell, United States Olympic Committee, Nikon, Newsweek, Federal Express, TYR, and Parker Aerospace.
